In January, Sean and I went to Kauai to visit his parents, who were spending six months on the island. Sean and I had been there in 2006 with my grandparents, and being that my grandma passed away early last year, I was feeling some mixed emotions about going back to Kauai without them. The first day we went to Anini Beach, and sat on the sand in front of the house we'd stayed in with my grandparents. I shed a few tears, until Sean wisely reminded me that you can never stand in the same river twice. So true, and we had an awesome trip - surfing, body boarding, collecting shells, laying on the beach, and hanging out with Sean's family.

February brought a huge snowstorm, which of course must be celebrated with a trip to Central Park to see the snow in all of its splendor, since the rest of the city looks like crap a few hours after snow falls. We saw a creepy, crazed-looking raccoon wandering around the park, and despite conventional wisdom to stay away from nocturnal animals that are doing crazy things during the daytime, I had to follow it to take its photo.
March brought The Working Proof some press with a great mention in Lucky Magazine. That was awesome.

In April we joined a casual soccer league with some friends, which resulted in my spraining my ankle and Sean taking a ball to the face and damaging his retina. But, injuries aside, it was so much fun to play soccer again, and by some miracle, we made the playoffs (which we then promptly lost). We also finally visited the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, after 7 years in NYC!

May: flea markets, design week, parades, and also the month that we found out that we were going to have a baby. A month filled with surprise, excitement, and anxiety.

In June we went to Seattle for my grandma's 80th birthday, and to celebrate my grandparent's 60th wedding anniversary (60 years! So amazing and inspiring!). We made a few, quick side trips - Vancouver for a friend's wedding, and Portland, to check out the city as a possible future home. We shared our baby news with a few family members, and other than a few slips, they kept our secret pretty well.

I went to Idaho with my parents in July, and Sean flew back to NYC for work. Met my parents' four cute dogs (well, really three cute and one ugly) and their three miniature goats, watched my cousins swim in the raceways, went to a rodeo, and kayaked down a river to a (super cold and super blue) mountain spring. Once I was back in New York, I went to a laser cutting party (pig-shaped ham sandwiches, anyone?).
Suffered through baby-induced nausea and the heat in August.

Celebrated our third anniversary (only 57 more to go, until we hit my grandparent's 60!) in September by going to Rockaway Beach (and hitting up the amazing taco shack, obvs!). Went to Boston for a long weekend, felt the baby move for the first time, and found out that we are having a baby girl! My brother and his wife visited us - we geo-cached, walked the Brooklyn Bridge and went to a dumpling festival.

In October we toured Big Bambu (so awesome!), shot footage for the promo video of Meg Mateo Ilasco's Crafting a Meaningful Home, went to the Dia Beacon for the first time, and went on a trip to DC with some friends. I also went to Miami to check out the opening of the new Soho Beach House for Notcot.

In November some friends threw us an awesome baby shower, and we celebrated my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving. Sean cooked the turkey, and it was delicious.
December brought us spicy hot chocolate, my 31st birthday, Christmas in the Bronx, and Snowmageddon, which trapped my brother and Sarah in NYC for a few extra days, since they were visiting us for Christmas. I may or may not have orchestrated the storm to get a few extra days with them.

All in all, 2010 was a great year. 2011 is undoubtedly going to bring about huge changes in our lives. While I'm a little nervous about what that is going to look like, I've found a lot of peace in letting go of my desire to control everything (honestly, in pregnancy what control do I have over anything, anyway?), and in just trusting that we are in God's hands, and that we are provided for. To paraphrase Matthew 6:34, why worry about anything that isn't a problem yet? So, I'm excited to see what 2011 will bring us - I'm looking forward to becoming a mother, figuring out how to juggle work and a family, and learning from whatever else 2011 is going to throw at us. As we enter 2011, I wish you all health, happiness, and many blessings!
Happy New Year, Anna and Sean!! It's going to be a beautiful and exciting year for you guys, I know so!!! :)
