Two months!

Look who is two months old (as of last Tuesday, actually, but I had to wait for Sean to be home to take this picture, so that he could hover over V just in case she suddenly learned how to fling herself off of a chair).

This second month has been a lot more fun than the first - it's not that I feel like we know what we're doing or anything, but we have settled into some form of a routine and I feel like I understand what V needs, more or less anyway. We really are lucky because she is so not a fussy baby (though I always jinx myself when I say that - V, please don't keep us up tonight, thank you in advance!). She has also become a very smiley baby, and a chatty one - lots of cooing (and other strange noises) going on. I wonder if a chatty baby = a chatty kid eventually? How much of a baby's personality stays with them as they get older?

On the downside for this last month - I've had back pain ever since getting pregnant. We thought that after I had the baby, the pain would go away, and it did up until last week when it came back with a vengeance. I've hardly been able to walk over the past 3-4 days, which obviously makes taking care of V by myself challenging. On Friday I went to see my doctor and had some xrays taken, but nothing showed up so they want me to come in for an MRI. I also went to an acupuncturist for the first time, and it was pretty interesting. Maybe it's just a placebo effect, but I totally felt like I could feel my blood flowing and tingling in my legs. I got the acupuncture on Friday and on Saturday I was in the worst pain yet, but by Sunday I felt SO much better. I'm still hobbling around, but I can move, so that's great. I'm going in for another acupuncture session tonight, so hopefully it will help some more!

  1. She is SO dang cute. I've heard such wonders about acupuncture, I hope it works for you! I've been thinking about going for allergies.

  3. thanks, guys! I thought I took a step back after my acupuncture session yesterday, but I woke up this morning feeling pretty good (though still not as mobile as I'd like), so hopefully it just keeps getting better.

Kate - you should totally try it for your allergies - it can't hurt, and I'm sure there are some great acupuncturists in LA...if you do it, keep me posted! I'm still trying to figure if I'm a convert to the cult of acupuncture...
