six months

Well. We are moving to our new apartment next week and I am up to my eyeballs in boxes, so this is a little late, but our little lady is now six months old! I really can't believe how fast it is all going. I will probably say that every month, but it's true - time flies, and V is getting older way too fast!

This month V has started to crawl, much to my dismay. I was really hoping she would delay any mobility attempts until we'd gotten to our new place, because our current apartment is kind of hazardous for crawling babies, especially now that everything is in disarray. Now that she is moving around, we've made a play pen of sorts out of pillows and other objects that she can't crawl over - our stopgap solution until we're in the new place and can get everything sorted out. She's not crawling properly yet - it started off as a zombie crawl (dragging herself around using her arms), but now she's started using her legs to either do the worm, or she'll push herself up onto her toes into a very impressive military style push up (I wish I could do those) and then into the start of a sprinting stance, and will use that to push herself forward. It's all very cute and strange.

V has started adding consonants to her babble (da, ba, but no ma - what's up with that??), and is getting pretty gabby. She also recently started making what I like to call her "mean" face, where she looks like if you mess with her, she will tear your arm off, only she's happy and not mad.

Below are a few of my favorite photos from last month, including a few more from our trip to Seattle and our trip to Ithaca.

One of the few family pictures we have. Of course, not everyone is looking at the camera at once, but I hear that's how these pictures usually go. We need to take some more!

V got tons of attention from doting aunts, uncles, grandparents, and great-grandparents while we were in Seattle. I wish we always had family close by!

My grandma made V a little birthday cake when she turned 5-months. It was very sweet.

V tried out the swings for the first time this month. At first when I put her in it, I pushed her too vigorously, and she wasn't sure she liked it...So, I slowed down the pushing and she totally got into it. I don't know why, but she would close her eyes whenever she got close to me.

V likes to wrestle. If you let her, she'll drape herself over you and gnaw on whatever body part she can get her mouth on.

V's "mean" face. Don't mess.

We put a mesh bumper in V's crib to keep her legs and arms from getting caught in the crib posts. When she wants out, I'll hear little whimpering sounds and will find this face staring out at me from inside the crib. Sweetness.

She's started sleeping with her butt up in the air, I think because she's practicing using her knees for crawling. Whatever it is, it's super cute.

And last but not least, a few photos of Vera's sprinting stance. Not so efficient, but it works.
